I think I was 15 when I made my decision not to follow my dad’s religion. I was a Christian at one point, I went to Costa Rica on mission trips with my dad’s church, but never really felt what every one else said they were feeling- the Holy Spirit or whatever. After about 3 years of going on mission trips with this church I kind of had an epiphany, I wasn’t doing this because some higher power told me to, I wasn’t doing this to make a god happy, and I wasn’t doing it to feel closer to god, I was doing this for the people who needed my help. In all my years of going to church and reading and praying to god I had never once had an encounter where I could say, I felt god, heard god, etc. From there I just started reading more into the science of the universe and other religions and philosophies which opened my eyes to many things that other religious people can’t see because they are blinded by their faith. I hope this makes sense.. haha
